This
A-4/V-2 replica was built in England for the
BBC docudrama "Space Race," which aired in
2005. After filming was finished in Romania,
the replica remained there. Originally painted
in ragged camouflage, it was painted black and
white during filming for later scenes. For the
next decade the whereabouts of this replica
remained unclear. During that time it
seems the rocket
deteriorated considerably. In 2020 the
rocket was recovered and restored for display
at Romanian National Air
Museum in Bucharest.
"Space Race," a BBC docudrama
series between September/October 2005,
chronicling the major events and characters
in the American/Soviet space race. It focuses
on Sergei Korolev, the Soviets' chief rocket
designer, and Wernher von Braun, his
American counterpart.
